General

What is PaperChunk?

PaperChunk is a Minecraft server hosting platform. We provide managed servers with a full admin panel, plugin support, server protection (firewall, rate limiting), automated backups, and in-game store integration via Tebex.

What Minecraft versions are supported?

We support all Paper-compatible versions. You can change the version from your server dashboard. Most servers run the latest stable release.

Can Bedrock players join?

Yes! All servers come with GeyserMC support, allowing Bedrock Edition players to connect. Bedrock players connect on port 19132.

What server software do you use?

We run Paper by default, which is a high-performance fork of Spigot. Paper supports thousands of plugins and offers better performance than vanilla Minecraft.

Server

How do I connect to my server?

Add yourserver.paperchunk.com in Minecraft's multiplayer menu. Replace yourserver with your actual server name.

Why is my server showing as "Deploying"?

New servers take 2–3 minutes to provision. The status will automatically change to "Active" once ready. The dashboard refreshes automatically.

Can I use mods?

PaperChunk runs Paper servers, which support plugins (not Forge/Fabric mods). Plugins cover most use cases — there are thousands available through our built-in catalog (powered by Modrinth). If you need Forge or Fabric mods specifically, PaperChunk is not the right fit.

How do I become an operator?

Use the console in the admin panel:

op YourUsername

Can I change the world seed?

You can set the seed in server.properties → level-seed. Note that this only applies when generating a new world. To reset the world, delete the world folder and restart.

Can I upload my existing world?

Currently, world upload is not supported through the panel. Contact support if you need to migrate an existing world.

Plugins

How many plugins can I install?

There's no hard limit. However, more plugins use more RAM and CPU. We recommend keeping it reasonable for your plan.

A plugin says "incompatible" — can I still use it?

"Incompatible" means no build was found matching your MC version on Modrinth. The plugin may still work — you can try uploading the .jar manually if the admin has enabled manual uploads.

My plugin isn't working after install

Make sure to restart the server after installing plugins. Check the console for any errors during startup.

Billing

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes! The Wood, Stone, and Iron plans include a 1-day free trial. No charge until the trial ends — cancel anytime during the trial period.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. When you cancel, you receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of your billing period. Your server remains accessible until the end of the paid period, then enters a 7-day grace period. After 7 days, the server is permanently deleted.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Promotion codes are also supported at checkout.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Plan changes are handled through support. Contact us and we'll adjust your plan — you'll only pay the difference.

What happens if my payment fails?

You'll receive an email notification. The server continues running during a short grace period while Stripe retries the payment. If all retries fail, the server is suspended.

Technical

What Paper version do you use?

You can choose any Paper version from the server dashboard. We recommend using the latest stable build.

How much RAM does my server get?

Where are servers hosted?

All servers are hosted on Hetzner Cloud in Europe (Germany/Finland). This provides excellent performance for European players and decent latency for most regions.

Do you provide SSH access?

No, direct SSH access is not provided. All server management is done through the admin panel. This ensures security and prevents configuration conflicts.

What server protection is included?

All servers are protected by a firewall (UFW), nginx rate limiting, and fail2ban intrusion prevention. Our hosting provider (Hetzner) also provides infrastructure-level network protection. For high-profile servers that need advanced DDoS mitigation, we recommend using a proxy like TCPShield — contact support for help setting it up.

Are backups included?

Yes, automated backups are part of the service. You can also trigger manual backups from the server dashboard.
